“I started CrossFit a little over a year ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I was always a athlete in high school and loved sports my whole life. In college I was working out on a regular schedule and got to a point where I wasn’t seeing any results and it quickly got very boring. I used to love exercising and being apart of a team but at that point with college and work I felt like I was in a rut and not sure what else to do.

Luckily I had a conversation with one of my best friends Sarah Decelles! She had started CrossFit and was telling me how much fun it was and how it made her feel great. So I figured I’d give it a shot.

The first couple of months were tough, but I never felt better. I felt less tired, sluggish and I could tell I was getting stronger, faster and more flexible. I came in and couldn’t do a pull-up and now I’m able to do more than I ever could have thought! One goal down, plenty more to go! I walk into that gym every single day and know that I am one day closer to achieving a goal I have set for myself.

The HammerMill community is so amazing! Everyone is so supportive from the coaches to everyone in your class. I have made some of the best friendships here that I wouldn’t trade for anything! I know that everyone here has my back and wants to see nothing but success which in the end is what we all want. CrossFit has changed my life in such an amazing way and I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world!”

“I started my CrossFit journey in June 2013. After finishing up a bitter divorce which left me feeling “broken” in every sense

I had never picked up a weight bar or for that matter lifted any weights in my life, but I knew I was up for the challenge and was looking to focus on a fitness routine what was “different”. I had always been pretty athletic but had grown tired of the same old.

I became a member of CrossFit Hammermill in Sept 2015, I have seen growth in my CrossFit abilities beyond my expectations!

Everyone attitude is so positive you can’t help but get “fired UP”. The coaching is truly superb, I’m always being corrected and encourage which I truly love ! Your their family and they truly care about you and your success. My fellow CrossFit are now my second family, everyone is so warm and welcoming, from the first time I stepped foot in the box I felt like I was HOME.

I’m 45 years YOUNG and have never felt better !! I have lost weight, body fat and gain muscle!!! Along with a new outlook ! I’m a work in progress and love the journey!

“I joined CFHM about a year and a half ago and the change in my body, confidence, and overall health has been amazing. I was always athletic in high school and played soccer, track, and lacrosse, but I never pushed myself anywhere near that in the gym on my own. Crossfit gives me the motivation I need to work hard and get results. However, as appreciative as I am of all the positive changes to my health, I have to say my favorite part of CFHM is the camaraderie I’ve experienced; it’s truly unmatched and I really feel I’ve gained a second family.”

“I joined CFHM over a year ago. At the time I was fed up with trying to lose weight via conventional dieting and exercise. I found a Groupon for CrossFit and remembered someone talking about it when I was in college. I honestly didn’t think I would like it. There are a lot of CrossFitters who were athletes in high school and college. I was never an athletic kind of person (not for lack of trying, I just sucked at sports), but I decided to give it a try anyway.

I went through the on-ramp classes, and during that time I saw all these women lifting these heavy barbells and thought “Wow, these girls are amazing! But I could never do that!” So still I was skeptical.

However, I kept doing it even though it was so darn HARD at first! All of the coaches were so encouraging and kept telling me how I could improve and that before I knew it I would be seeing changes in my body and my strength. Boy did I ever!

I finally found a sport I was good at! On top of that, I got the body I always dreamed of having, everyday activities (lifting things, etc.) got so much easier, and I feel like I could conquer the world. But most importantly, I found a new, amazing family of dedicated, strong, hardworking individuals. The sense of community at CrossFit Hammermill is the most amazing part, and the reason I keep coming back again and again.”

“Growing up I was athletic and always exercising, but after high school that stopped and after some time passed I joined a gym. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to workout on my own and get the results I was looking for.. I found Crossfit Hammermill on Groupon and thought it was the perfect solution. I quickly noticed how my much my strength and stamina were increasing, however, it wasn’t until the Paleo challenge that I really noticed a difference. It’s astonishing once you realize all the junk we ingest on a daily basis. With the help of the encouraging staff at CFHM guiding me along the way, I lost 4 inches off my waist and 2.6% of body fat in just 60 days! Aside from numbers, I feel so much better. I have more energy, my mind is sharper, and my workouts are faster and stronger. THANK YOU HAMMERMILL! Paleo is definitely my new way of life!”

“I’ve always hated my body, especially in high school; I was 172 pounds and a size 12 which I guess compared to others isn’t that bad but for me and my doctor it was bad enough; I was considered overweight. I just graduated high school and I wasn’t at all comfortable with my body. Truly I think that you can be any size you want to be but as long as you’re confident and feel good then what does it matter what size you are? Anyways, I was going to be an upcoming freshman at Nichols College and I was extremely self-conscious about my body image, I didn’t know what to do to start to lose weight, I know exercise and eat right but for me it was more than that; I had no motivation to actually get rid of the pounds.

I was at the gym at least four times a week doing cardio and I was slowly trying to cut out different foods that I would previously have. Dieting is really hard and you have to treat yourself every once in a while but for me once I started seeing results I just wanted to keep seeing them, I couldn’t get enough.  By June 2011 I had lost 25 pounds and I was so happy with the way I was looking I started to actually feel confident but my goal was to lose 40 pounds and when I set a goal I WILL reach it no matter how long it would take me.

February 2012 was when I hit my weight loss goal; one morning I decided to step on the scale after not having for a while and when I stepped on the scale I weight 128… I lost 40 pounds. I remember standing crying because I had never been so proud of myself. Between March 2012-May 2012 I noticed that I didn’t really have a body, I felt too skinny (ironic) that’s when I discovered CrossFit and that is what truly showed me what it’s like to be thin but to have a body, a curvy one.  My sister Marisa would go to CrossFit and to be honest I never heard about it and didn’t really know what it was. I decided I would go in a try it out. After my first day I fell in love; I knew CrossFit was my thing. Everyone bashes on CrossFit and says its a cult and it is … but its the best cult that I have ever heard about! How is getting fit a bad thing? IT’S NOT.

A year in a half of CrossFit and I have no complaints about my body and I now know a lot more about nutrition. I am so thankful for my CrossFit HammerMill family, I KNOW I couldn’t have done this without them.”
